    Niiiiiiiiiicee!

Someday the old business models are going to crumble. They’ve been fighting a losing battle for years through litigation and strongarm tactics. But change is inevitable and control always shifts. It’s human nature.

Where can I get the song?

  11. Comment by JeanClaude on May 3, 2007 8:03 am

This is the second song around the whole DRM thing that Geoff has released in the last 2 weeks. ( http://urltea.com/hd6 ). “Set The Music Free” is another. AND one of is most podcasted songs “Not On The Radio” is along the same lines. Geoff’s a great guy, and a brilliant songwriter.

    “Buffer overrun detected!

    Program: C:\Program Files\QuickTime\QuickTimePlayer.exe

A buffer overrun has been detected which has corrupted the program’s internal state. The program cannot safely continue execution and must now be terminated.”

If someone copies your ATM card and pin number are they allowed access to all your money because it’s a free exchange of information? Dumb shits, I hope you go to prison where you belong. If you produced anything of value instead of just ripping off other people’s hard work you might understand but it seems there is a whole generation that doesn’t give a shit about stealing as if you’re fighting “the power.” Just because you “don’t understand” that you’re breaking the law is no excuse.

  53. Comment by Mike Bachman on May 3, 2007 11:00 pm

I think a lot of people are thinking more along the lines of storage. It’s nice to store a bunch of DVDs to a large hard drive for quick access. That’s not hurting anyone.

  58. Comment by Canadrian on May 4, 2007 3:55 am

@Zezu - the only horsey thing around here is a horse’s ass, and it’s you. Go suck a lemon.

@It’s all about freedom baby - umm… no. Stealing is when you take something from someone, and they don’t have it anymore. As in, “You stole my shovel! Now I have no shovel! Oh why, oh why did you steal my shovel? Now I can’t shovel!” The bank account PIN falls roughly in this area, because you take my money, now I have no money. But digitizing my DVDs to my media centre so I don’t have to have a bunch of unsightly boxes sitting on a shelf? That’s not stealing. The boxes are still in the closet, getting chewed on by my cats. Even if I copy YOUR movies and put them on my media centre, YOU still have boxes you can put in YOUR closet for YOUR cats to chew on. Copying is not stealing.

Excuse my while I go to Home Depot to take pictures of their shovels, so I can make a copy. Someone stole mine.

@Zezu, you’re nasty and rude. I know no one is beautiful to everyone, although I happen to think you’re in the minority around here. I also believe that you’re entitled to your opinion, but to say something like that to Cali is just plain cold-hearted. Do you have any idea how hurtful something like that is?

Oh, wait…You’re one of those 14 year olds who thinks you can say whatever you want because of the anonymity of the internet. Well, guess what. Grow up and realize that your comments have impact even if Cali can’t see who wrote them.

Go find someone else to criticize. Better yet, go look in the mirror. You should find plenty of fodder there.

@Cali, I wish I could apologize for this jerk, but I know it wouldn’t help much. Just know that he’s a very lonely man/boy here.

  64. Comment by Cali on May 4, 2007 7:14 am

@It’s all about freedom baby Says : This code gives people the ability to watch HD-DVDs on Linux. That means they can BUY HD-DVDs, which means more sales. That’s BETTER for the HD-DVD people. If someone steals the HD-DVD content, that’s different. From my perspective, it just opens up the market so that more people can participate.

Thanks, Proster8, Mike and Canadrian. It didn’t bother me. I laughed when I saw it. Neal only commented because the only thing that bothers us is that we don’t want comments to turn into YouTube comments where people just say horrible, horrible things.

The song was dumb and the video had no plot (except for giving away the decryption key) so it was a waste of my time to watch. Plus there’s no sense in giving away someone else’s intellectual property like that. I disagree with DRM but sharing keys like that won’t effect any sort of change. You guys just love the video because you think liking it will accomplish something.
