That is totally awesome! I love it!
Best Geek video ever!!!
I think that video is going to stick in my mind for awhile … and Cali drinks Guinness as well .. the perfect lass :) Dugg. The coming times are going to be interesting for Digg.
Great vid! Nothin’ like watching geek-code streaming onto my TV at six in the morning!
Catchy song, too! :-)
Geoff Smith is so talented, I am a huge fan and if you don’t have his album you need to get it….

Just perfect - well done Cali - great song too

Niiiiiiiiiicee!
Someday the old business models are going to crumble. They’ve been fighting a losing battle for years through litigation and strongarm tactics. But change is inevitable and control always shifts. It’s human nature.
Where can I get the song?
This is such a great song, and its a really great way for Cali and the crew to show their support for Digg.
Awesome guys, well done :)
Already hit the Digg homepage! Nice video, Cali.
Awesome! iTunes auto-downloaded and I watched expecting another great geek-brief. I was completely surprised and happily so. Very well done!!!
Awesome.
This is the second song around the whole DRM thing that Geoff has released in the last 2 weeks. ( http://urltea.com/hd6 ). “Set The Music Free” is another. AND one of is most podcasted songs “Not On The Radio” is along the same lines. Geoff’s a great guy, and a brilliant songwriter.
Awesome Video… nice work its just great!!!!!
bon.a.fide
Who is the guy dancing in the background a couple times? Was it Neal?
freaking GREAT!
Great video and great song from Geoff Smith. I DIGG it!!!
@Asa,
No, that was Alex Albrecht from Diggnation. (Least, I think it was)
sweet!!! the video was better quality than i was expecting. sheer brilliance.
and cali was dancing it is a great video now if we could just see her do the brief an that bikinni my friend keeps tell me about.
Fan Flippin Tastic! I never knew Hex could be so cool!
And nice dancing by Cali there :-)
Incredible. Absolutely incredible.

See, I never go to digg. (Yes, yes, I know.)
So it was bewildering to me why this post had hex in it:

kinda weird but i digg it!
The large version wouldn’t play for me. It started for a few seconds, then it gave me this error -
“Buffer overrun detected!
Program: C:\Program Files\QuickTime\QuickTimePlayer.exe
A buffer overrun has been detected which has corrupted the program’s internal state. The program cannot safely continue execution and must now be terminated.”
Does anyone know what the problem is?
The ipod version works fine, BTW.

Is there a link for an MP3 version?
Looks like maybe my TrackBack didn’t take, but I can always comment anyway. Well, I’m blown away, by both the video and the song. And Cali, besides being brilliant, talented, and drop-dead gorgeous, you drink Guinness too! My friends, I think the search stops here; Cali is the perfect woman. :) Go, Neil!

Great job Cali and Geoff :-) Fight the power
OMG I love it.
OMG I’m going to cry.
Rock on digg!!!!!!
@Zezu….NO HOTTIE???….Smokin’
Rofl I’m diggin it.
She has a horselike face. She’s not completely ugly. But she is in no way a hottie.
Zezu, you get a zero point zero. I think she looked great as always! I’m not sure if Neal dancing in the background is funny, creepy, or both. :p
Hot
Is that Leo Laporte making a cameo near the end of the video? He dances into the background in a maroon shirt.
I missed Neal the first time!
What a hoot!
PS: Neal, we know what you look like now, from the live chat. You can stop only showing us your “backal” angle! Ha!
@R Pyle, that wasn’t me. It was either Alex Albrecht, Leo Laporte or my crazy uncle Earl. I can’t tell for sure.
@Zezu, insulting a girl on the Internet? Your mom must be very proud!

If someone copies your ATM card and pin number are they allowed access to all your money because it’s a free exchange of information? Dumb shits, I hope you go to prison where you belong. If you produced anything of value instead of just ripping off other people’s hard work you might understand but it seems there is a whole generation that doesn’t give a shit about stealing as if you’re fighting “the power.” Just because you “don’t understand” that you’re breaking the law is no excuse.
I think a lot of people are thinking more along the lines of storage. It’s nice to store a bunch of DVDs to a large hard drive for quick access. That’s not hurting anyone.
[...] Cali and Neal of Geek Brief TV just made a video to my song Digg the Code and it is totally awesome!!!! [...]
What a great way to start the day - watched this as my first podcast of the day on the train towards London (yep - I’m on the other side of the world).
Great show, great video, and great song. Sat here smiling now…
cali lewis, freaking smoking HOTTT!…I would digg her….show ;)
smokin. it would be nice if all the large format videos were in this resolution.
@Zezu - the only horsey thing around here is a horse’s ass, and it’s you. Go suck a lemon.
@It’s all about freedom baby - umm… no. Stealing is when you take something from someone, and they don’t have it anymore. As in, “You stole my shovel! Now I have no shovel! Oh why, oh why did you steal my shovel? Now I can’t shovel!” The bank account PIN falls roughly in this area, because you take my money, now I have no money. But digitizing my DVDs to my media centre so I don’t have to have a bunch of unsightly boxes sitting on a shelf? That’s not stealing. The boxes are still in the closet, getting chewed on by my cats. Even if I copy YOUR movies and put them on my media centre, YOU still have boxes you can put in YOUR closet for YOUR cats to chew on. Copying is not stealing.
Excuse my while I go to Home Depot to take pictures of their shovels, so I can make a copy. Someone stole mine.
Cali, your going around the planet with this video. And this song is awesome!
It’s really, really cool that this turned into a song, video and a happy end to bumrush the industry for utilizing such a stupid solution and such a limiting solution for my paid Euros. Sorry, I don’t use Dollars.
That was simply amazing. Go Kevin and Digg!

@Zezu, you’re nasty and rude. I know no one is beautiful to everyone, although I happen to think you’re in the minority around here. I also believe that you’re entitled to your opinion, but to say something like that to Cali is just plain cold-hearted. Do you have any idea how hurtful something like that is?
Oh, wait…You’re one of those 14 year olds who thinks you can say whatever you want because of the anonymity of the internet. Well, guess what. Grow up and realize that your comments have impact even if Cali can’t see who wrote them.
Go find someone else to criticize. Better yet, go look in the mirror. You should find plenty of fodder there.
@Cali, I wish I could apologize for this jerk, but I know it wouldn’t help much. Just know that he’s a very lonely man/boy here.
@It’s all about freedom baby Says : This code gives people the ability to watch HD-DVDs on Linux. That means they can BUY HD-DVDs, which means more sales. That’s BETTER for the HD-DVD people. If someone steals the HD-DVD content, that’s different. From my perspective, it just opens up the market so that more people can participate.
Thanks, Proster8, Mike and Canadrian. It didn’t bother me. I laughed when I saw it. Neal only commented because the only thing that bothers us is that we don’t want comments to turn into YouTube comments where people just say horrible, horrible things.
Great Episode…Great Song…I’ll probably never get that song out of my head now that I’ve watched the episode so many times!

Excelllent Work! Great job on the video! Is it a game for Neal now to show himself but not his face? He should do things like just showing an eye or his ear and then one day we can piece him together into a video montage. Loved this video!
LOVED! IT!
Great Content. Message. Spirit.
Well done!
@Neal, loved the video quality. Was there something different?
t
love the episode. Best geek song yet!!!!
Who wrote the geek song?
GO Cali!!!!!!!
Amazing you guys! Go Cali Go. Great Song and loved the video :)
WHOA. You two took a fantastically catchy song, and made it 100x better. Awesome production value, great enthusiastic energy, sexy charm.
AWESOME JOB! This is why I love you guys. And in 540p, too.
Oh yeah, and to add to that,
This video seemed to have real sense of community in it. I could feel the love. And the Guinness was a clever touch.
You guys should make music videos more often!
Simply the best!

why don’t we ever see neal in anything? hummmmmm does neal really exist? could neal just be a made up person that cali has created to keep guys from hitting on her?

The song was dumb and the video had no plot (except for giving away the decryption key) so it was a waste of my time to watch. Plus there’s no sense in giving away someone else’s intellectual property like that. I disagree with DRM but sharing keys like that won’t effect any sort of change. You guys just love the video because you think liking it will accomplish something.
Methinks Jim is offering flame bait. So let’s ignore it.
Or maybe he doesn’t appreciate a catchy song. Either way, not worth acknowledging.
@Andrew Z,
Agreed.
Cheers.
