I’m recovering from food poisoning (bad chicken, I think), so this jumps right into one of my favorite segments I did on Call For Help. It’s about using Wordpress to organize your life. Next week is CES and MacWorld, so expect a lot of information to be coming your way!

Cali,
I’m sorry to hear you’re feeling bad, you probably have the same bug I got a few weeks ago. I hope you’re feeling better very soon.
And what?! No link-love? You know that The WordPress Podcast is a great place for WordPress users to keep abreast of all the latest WordPress-related news, tips and information! :)
Hope you feel better. rest up
Hope ya feel better, Cali. No rush! Take care of yerself, cause I’m sure as all the big events (Macworld and CES) are coming you’ll have plenty to review in the coming months.

Great idea about using Wordpress as a personal information manager. You mentioned that you would have links to instructions on how to make a WP blog private but I couldn’t find any. I have two WP blogs set up and still can’t figure out how to make the blog private. Hints? Hints?
Thanks again
Dave
Right after I posted my last comment, I decided to search the plug-ins to see if there was such an animal and I found one that works great!

I cant find any episodes of call for help on google video after 448?? What happen ?? You guys stop putting videos on google or they are available on some other place!! Please let me know -thanks ;)
I don’t have any control over it, unfortunately. I’m sure there will be more up soon…keep checking!
Cali, sorry to hear you had food poisoning. Are you okay?
I asked on the TWiT site when we’d see more CFH episodes, and Leo directed me to http://www.callforhelptv.com/callforhelp/video/ which has a RSS feed to the Google Videos - allegedly. Unfortunately, they’re even further behind - their last episode is 431, which is one of the last Amber episodes (but not even THE last one, according to Leo). Worse, it doesn’t even really link to individual episodes, but to Google Video’s main page!
I’m surprisingly disappointed with Google Video - you’d think the Number One Search Engine in the World wouldn’t have such a lame search feature for the videos it hosts itself. I also can’t say I like that it uses its own proprietary .gvi format rather than Flash like YouTube does - it’s a several-step process requiring two different software apps (three if you count iTunes) to get CFH episodes onto my iPod Video. :(

Hi Cali,
You’ve probably heard of this site but I use it for organizing my life. It is Backpack (http://backpackit.com/) by 37signals. These guys are great. They have several other web tools and a great business model. They support to-do lists (one of their other tools is Ta-da list).
I am also a WordPress blogger. I love WordPress but appreciate the extra functionality that Backpack gives. They have a free version that allows you to create up to 5 pages (I equate pages with projects) but the free version doesn’t give you access to their wonderful iCal compatible calendar.
Love the show,
Kellie Miller (aka Javajini)
BTW, does this make me a GIA agent?
Interesting use of WordPress , accessibly from any where with Web access.
David Petersen, WordPress.com is a great option for private blogging.

[...] Cali Lewis uses Wordpress as a scheduling system for herself. If it works for her, great. Personally it seems like a lot more work than it needs to be - but that’s just me. Should I be complaining online that she isn’t using the technology for what it was “meant” to be used for - or should I be intrigued that she is using technology to make her life better? [...]
This is cool little idea. Now I agree with the guy above it seems to be a abit of alot of work.
