o man, that motion controlled screen is sweeet, i need one of those, and do you have to that close to the screen? it’s a huge display, gonna get my eyes burned out.

OK….so did the hand on the screen project some form of energy that knocked you off your stool? I think that beats the “veehickle” line as my new favorite moment.

I fell in love with Virb as soon as I saw it. It may have a great deal of work needed on it, but it is an elegant site.

CHUMBY?!?!? Was that a Chumby I saw on your desk in this episode? When did you get it? I remember when you reviewed it a while back (looks like episode #62 from the search) and have been chomping at the bit for them to get selling these things! I tried to convince them to let me hack one, but that didn’t work. :-( Are you doing any hacks or just trying it out? How do you like it???

OK, so it was episode #63, whatever. :-)

Another way to get GeekBrief updates automatically is with the Democracy Player. I just pull it up once a day, and it lets me know if there’s a new Brief. Its default is to download automatically. You have to search for Geek Brief in the Channel Guide, and add it to your list.

It uses VLC as its video player (not a separate download, it’s integrated). So, Quicktime files will give you trouble. MP4 and M4V will play just fine, though.

Yep, that was a Chumby. :) They sent it to me after that episode in exchange for the domain names we bought. I’m really looking forward to it launching and seeing more widgets built for it. We’ll talk about it when they launch.

    Oops. For info, that’s http://www.democracy.com

The org thingy gets you something different.

Sigh. I really should check these links before I post them. democracy.com sends you somewhere different as well. The getdemocracy.com link does work, though.

    Sorry about the clutter.

I have tried the Democracy player and in theory I like the idea; however, it doesn’t work well for me. Granted, the machine I have it on is running Vista so that could be the issue. I have the GBTV channel and it downloads the files, but when I go to play them I get the audio and a black screen. I don’t have a problem playing the same shows in iTunes.

[...] Thanks to Cali Lewis and the latest episode of GeekBrief.tv (#147) for giving some info on the latest social network, it’s called VIRB. Hopefully its going to be a MySpace killer. I hate to use the “killer” term for any new site or gadget, but with my long time hate for MySpace I feel better using that term and hope it comes true. [...]

Cali, have you tried out http://www.google.com/reader/?

I use that to organize RSS feeds. (including GeekBrief)

I don’t know about RMail. I would think it would clutter my mailbox.
