I would never change from my iPod. Universal’s efforts are contemptible.
Hey Calli and Neal
Great work on the show, love it.
Quick note looks like this ep your still linking to the previous episodes wmv version. Just thought id mention it.

Thanks! I’ve fixed the WMV link. We accidentally uploaded the wrong file, so you’ll see a “repost” in the title of your subscription.
Hey Cali, when are you planning to be on ustream again? That’s one thing no one has figured out is how to publish the times they’ll be on video. Maybe via a Twitter or Jaiku feed?
I always Twitter and Pownce when I’m going to do a Ustream. I don’t always plan ahead, though. Twitter: twitter.com/calilewis Pownce: pownce.com/cali
Nice brief - I voiced concern about the placement of the movie trailer on a previous show, so I owe you a “thanks” for the way it was integrated on this brief. Nice segue.
PS - was the guy’s head from Universal supposed to be sideways :)?
What’s that picture that’s making the “V” in Nashville on your shirt? Sitting close to the display and staring at your chest during the Brief just feels creepy. :)
lol! It’s a building. I can’t tell if it’s a particular building, though.
How well do you think the PED 3 would work for an iPod Touch? Would the Touch just rattle around loosely due to the slightly smaller dimensions?
As for Universal’s move, I’m generally in favor of competition, but I admit this has a feel of desperation about it. It assumes the majority of music on players has been downloaded. On mine, about 5% (or less) of the music is from iTunes, 95% is from my CDs. What about other people?
I generally like the Universal plan. However, it will be interesting to see if they can pull it off. Let’s face it, the manufacturers really don’t need much help selling MP3 players. I dare you to find a kid that doesn’t have some sort of device.
I wonder how much Universal will attempt to charge the manufacturers? It can’t be more then pennies per player. Personally, I would like to see it happen.
Wow! I guess you haven’t been on Second Life for a while now, Cali! We’ve been communicating using microphones and headsets for months now (since May ‘07). While I was part of the beta test team, it was opened to everyone else mid-July. It’s great, as I can talk MUCH faster than I can type :-)
Nice editing starting the movie trailer on your display and then cutting to full screen. Here’s a little trick for you so that it doesn’t start out with just a black monitor. I’m assuming you have Quicktime Pro, especially since you use Final Cut Pro. Move the playhead to a good frame, copy it, then move to the point back at the beginning where you want to start the playback and paste. You may have to arrow back (left) one frame. Not sure there. But then, as you are there full frame, there’s something nice to see on the monitor that immediately goes away when you tap the space bar to play the movie.
